The Basics: Undergarments pt. 2

Hola Chicas,

Last time we met we told you guys about the bras that work for us and why.  Now lets dish about Shapewear.  Shapewear is what turns your rolls into curves.  It also turns your pudges into fine lines.  There are certain clothing items that I never wear without an accompanying peice of shapewear.

MYTH:  Shapewear is only for our plus sized sisters.
FACT: Unless you are a supermodel in her prime, YOU NEED SHAPEWEAR!

Here is a short list of the most useful peices of shapewear that work for us...

Body Magic by Ardyss:

As you can see it comes in three colors. If you had to choose one color, get black.  This product promises to drop you 2-3 dress sizes.  In reality....its more like 1 dress size (for us at least).  It does, however, hold everything in the right place and hides a multitude of sins (lol).

Shapewear by Cacique:
These items come in various styles.  The style that you choose all depends on what your wearing on the outside.
For example, if your wearing a skirt (or a dress) you'd probably wear these:
Seamless shapewear shorts
If you were wearing a dress this might be the most appropriate piece (bra not included):
Slimplicity open bust slip by SPANX
If you are wearing jeans or trousers, these are an excellent choice. They can also double as long-johns in the winter:

Remember:  Your outfit isnt finished unless your undergarments are.  Please dress responsibly.

As always, ROCK YOUR SIZE!!!

Love always,

Danielle & Krystal

The Basics: Undergarments pt. 1

Hola Chicas,
When it comes to your personal style it's what’s underneath your clothes that matters most. There is no better feeling than looking in the mirror and seeing everything sitting just right.  The appropriate undergarments create the illusion that you’ve got it going on.  You can have on the baddest frock but if you have back fat, front fat and side fat, all the work you put into your outfit is overshadowed by your Krispy Kreme sins.
Today we are talking about bras. Here are a few of my (Krystal’s) favs…
Style: Underwire, Full Coverage

For us bustier girls, underwire is everything… Be sure to shop for bras that lift you up and support your back. This advice is for ALL body types. Most reputable clothiers will measure you in the store.  In fact they will offer to measure you.  Full coverage does just that.  It covers about 95% of your breast.  Its great for everyday wear.  And its usually the go-to style for our modest sisters.
Manufacturer: Bali
Personally I love the flower bra by Bali! I like how it minimizes back fat and gives me the shape that I can wear under anything.

Here are a few of my (Danielle) go-to items….
Style: Underwire, T-Shirt

I can’t imagine a world without underwire.  Some ladies think that they are uncomfortable.  I don’t agree, but even if they were I would consider them and all other undergarments a necessary evil.  (Lol)  The T-shirt bra is the perfect cut for tanks and low cut shirts.  They give you the coverage that you don’t get from a plunge style bra but still allows you to wear tops that are a little more revealing.  The T-shirt bra gives me a very natural shape that I can be confident with.
Manufacturer: Cacique
I prefer this lingerie line and I'll wear almost anything they make.  Their bras are reasonably priced for the variety of colors, shapes and sizes.

Next time we'll talk about Shapewear.  Stay tuned!!

As always, ROCK YOUR SIZE!

The Basics: Body Types

Let’s get started… Knowing what to wear all starts with knowing yourself: Your Personality, Your Body Type, and most importantly Your Size (undergarments, tops, and bottoms).

Introductions:

I’m Krystal, Hi! When it comes to fashion I'm pretty adventurous, I'll try almost anything. I'm over the top about my shoes, jewelry, and animal print. I’m an inverted triangle. In other words, I’m very busty and smaller at the bottom. In a perfect world I’d be a size 10-12 but in reality I’m a size 14-16 depending upon the garment.

And I’m Danielle! I am a classic A-line chick with a little flare.  You can usually catch me in anything from a dress and platform heels to skinny jeans and ballet flats.  I’m a figure eight and I wear a  size 28 in everything. So basically, I'm busty at the top, full at the bottom, and slimmer in my stomach and waist.
Now that the introductions are over, let’s see what your body type is...
Disclaimer: These are the rules, but if it looks good, make your own rules!!!

Step 1. Find your body type on the chart above.

Step 2. Apply the following rules on your next shopping trip. (see below for details)

 Diamond :

  • Tops: cinched, belted or gathered at the waist, v-neck, boat neck....not crew-necks
  • Bottoms: Wide-leg pants, boot-cut or flare jeans, no pocket embellishments, A-line skirts, or straight skirts

 Triangle :

  • Tops: short sleeves, crew-neck, brightly colored or patterned....not over sized
  • Bottoms: neutral or dark colored, straight leg, low rise, A-line skirts, or straight skirts....no pleats

Rectangle:

  • Tops:  scoop-neck or sweetheart necklines, ruffles and collars that bring attention to your chest *wearing the right bra is key because it will create curves for a boyish figure but we'll talk more about this later
  • Bottoms:  low rise, skinny boot-cut, wide-leg trousers...not cargo, or big flare *these can cause you too look boyish
Oval:

  • Tops:  square, v-neck, or wide-neck; belted waist, wrap style
  • Bottoms:  pants with rear pockets that contain embellishments or flaps: cargo or safari style pants; skirts that flare have tiers or are bubble shaped...not too short
Hourglass:
  • Tops: tailored jackets, belted tops, form fitting, tops that have darts that accentuate your natural figure...not boxy or shapeless
  • Bottoms: boot-cut jeans, pencil skirts, full skirts, pants with a wide waistband...*full bottoms should be paired with fitted tops that accentuate your shoulders or full tops with a belted waist
Inverted Triangle:
  • Tops: dark colored tops, deep v-neck, cinched or belted waists, sleeveless or form fitting sleeves...not spaghetti or thin straps
  • Bottoms:  full skirts, pants with pockets and embellishments/designs at the hips, wide-leg or trouser cut pants
Figure Eight:
  • Tops: fitted, tailored, belted tops, wrap dresses, peplum dresses...not boxy or straight jackets or shirts
  • Bottoms:  bootcut jeans or pants that a straight cut, pencil skirts, full skirts should not flare at the knee
Hopefully this tutorial has shed some light on why certain outfits just haven't been working for you.  Now that we've talked about what works for you, it's your turn to get out there and try it!

As always.... ROCK YOUR SIZE!!!

Love,

Danielle and Krystal
